The best time to post on Facebook is a weekday, Tuesday to Thursday, but the studies split on the hour. Buffer's top slot is Thursday at 9 a.m., Hootsuite favours early mornings around 5–6 a.m., and Sprout Social sees peak engagement on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 8 p.m. Most agree weekends are weakest. All times are in your audience's local time.
Below: each study's times for every day of the week, why mornings and afternoons both have support, what's known about Facebook Reels, how to convert the times for an audience in another country, and how to find your Page's own best time. Updated October 2026.

The best time to post on Facebook, by study
We use the three largest current studies we could verify on each publisher's own page. Later's Facebook guide gives no data of its own, so it isn't included.
| Study | Published | Sample | Measures | Time zone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buffer | Feb 2026 | 14 million Facebook posts | Median engagement | Audience's local time |
| Sprout Social | Mar 2026 | Nearly 2 billion engagements, 307,000 profiles (all networks), 27 Nov 2025 – 27 Feb 2026 | Peak engagement windows | Audience's local time |
| Hootsuite | Nov 2025 | Over 1 million posts (all networks), 118 countries | Engagement | Audience's local time |
All three use the audience's local time. Sprout Social: "All optimal posting times are listed in Local Time." Buffer: "no need to convert." Hootsuite: "the time of day was localized across 118 countries".

- Sprout Social: 12–2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Where at least two studies overlap: 6–7 a.m.
Best time to post on Facebook on Saturday
Buffer calls Saturday the worst day for Facebook, and Sprout Social gives no weekend times. If you post on a Saturday, early morning is where Buffer and Hootsuite overlap.
- Buffer: 10 p.m., 6 a.m., 9 p.m.
- Sprout Social: no recommended time
- Hootsuite: 6 a.m.
Where at least two studies overlap: 6–7 a.m.
Best time to post on Facebook on Sunday
Sunday does slightly better than Saturday in Buffer's data. Buffer and Hootsuite both point to the morning, overlapping at 8–9 a.m.

Mornings or afternoons?
The split comes down to what each study measures and whose posts it counts.
- Buffer ranks hours by median engagement across 14 million posts from businesses, creators and influencers. Its best hours cluster around 8–10 a.m., and it says afternoons from 12 to 5 p.m. are generally weaker.
- Hootsuite finds early mornings "consistently outperform other time slots across industries and time zones", with Tuesday at 5 a.m. the best overall.
- Sprout Social looks for peak engagement windows across its customers' profiles and finds a long block from lunchtime into the evening on Tuesday and Wednesday.
An early post may simply face less competition and still be there when people first check their feed, while Sprout Social's afternoon blocks reflect when its customers' audiences interact most. Neither is wrong. Test one morning slot and one afternoon slot and let your own Page decide.
Best time to post Facebook Reels
None of the three studies gives separate times for Facebook Reels. Sprout Social ties its Tuesday-to-Wednesday afternoon peak partly to people "watching Reels and participating in comment threads" during lunch breaks and evenings. Until there's Reels-specific data, use the times above and test Reels at both ends of the day.
If you also post Reels to Instagram, our Instagram Reels safe zone template works for vertical Facebook video too, and Meta partnership ads explains how brands run creators' videos as ads.
Converting Facebook times for an audience in another country
The studies use the audience's local time, so a Page run from the UK for US customers should post at US times converted to UK time. Here's Buffer's top slot, Thursday at 9 a.m., converted:
| Audience in ↓ / you post from → | New York | London | Mumbai | Manila | Sydney |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| New York | Thu 9 a.m. | Thu 2 p.m. | Thu 7:30 p.m. | Thu 10 p.m. | Fri 1 a.m. |
| Los Angeles | Thu 12 p.m. | Thu 5 p.m. | Thu 10:30 p.m. | Fri 1 a.m. | Fri 4 a.m. |
| London | Thu 4 a.m. | Thu 9 a.m. | Thu 2:30 p.m. | Thu 5 p.m. | Thu 8 p.m. |
| Mumbai | Wed 10:30 p.m. | Thu 3:30 a.m. | Thu 9 a.m. | Thu 11:30 a.m. | Thu 2:30 p.m. |
| Manila | Wed 8 p.m. | Thu 1 a.m. | Thu 6:30 a.m. | Thu 9 a.m. | Thu 12 p.m. |
| Sydney | Wed 5 p.m. | Wed 10 p.m. | Thu 3:30 a.m. | Thu 6 a.m. | Thu 9 a.m. |
Toronto shares New York's time, and Vancouver shares Los Angeles's. These conversions are for mid-November; the gaps shift by an hour for a few weeks each spring and autumn. The best time to post finder handles daylight saving and split audiences.
How to find your Page's own best time
Meta shows you when your followers are online, and its scheduler can suggest times for you.
- Check when your audience is online. Meta's advice is to post when your audience is online and to find that in your Page Insights.
- Open Meta Business Suite and create a post.
- Click Active times. Meta says it recommends times "based on when followers were most active on Facebook and Instagram over the past 7 days" (Meta Business Help Centre).
- Compare with the studies above and shortlist two or three slots.
A simple four-week test:
- Weeks 1–2: post at a morning slot (for example, Thursday 9 a.m. or Tuesday 6 a.m.).
- Weeks 3–4: post similar content in an afternoon slot (for example, Tuesday or Wednesday 1–3 p.m.).
- Then compare reach, comments and shares per post. Keep the format the same, so the time is the main thing that changes.

Common questions
What is the best time to post on Facebook?
There isn't one time for every Page. Buffer's top slot is Thursday at 9 a.m., Hootsuite's is Tuesday at 5 a.m., and Sprout Social's peak is Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 8 p.m., all in your audience's local time. Test a morning and an afternoon slot.
What is the best day to post on Facebook?
A weekday. Buffer names Wednesday the best day, followed by Thursday and Tuesday. Sprout Social says Monday to Thursday, and Hootsuite's best time falls on a Tuesday.
What is the worst time to post on Facebook?
Buffer says Saturday is the worst day, and Sprout Social says weekends generally. Hootsuite advises avoiding late nights after 10 p.m.
When should I post Facebook Reels?
None of the big studies gives separate Reels times yet. Sprout Social links its Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon peak partly to people watching Reels, so start there and test mornings too.
What time zone are these times in?
Your audience's local time. All three studies say so. If your customers are in another country, convert the times to your clock.
Turn your content into paid work
If you make videos people stop scrolling for, brands will pay for them. On Myah, brands post paid UGC campaigns and creators apply with a portfolio, no big following needed. See UGC examples or read how to become a UGC creator. Myah is in early access: join as a creator.
