The best time to post on LinkedIn is midweek, Tuesday to Thursday, during the working day. That's where three large studies agree most, overlapping at Tuesday 4–5 p.m., Wednesday 3–4 p.m. and Thursday 2–3 p.m. Buffer's top slot is Wednesday at 4 p.m.; Sprout Social favours 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All three rank weekends lowest. Times are in your audience's local time.
Below: each study's times for every day of the week, what changes for company Pages and personal profiles, how to convert the times for an audience in another country, and how to test your own best time with LinkedIn's analytics. Updated October 2026.

The best time to post on LinkedIn, by study
We use the three largest current studies we could verify on each publisher's own page. Later's LinkedIn times come from its own account rather than a study, so they aren't included.
| Study | Published | Sample | Measures | Time zone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buffer | Sep 2026 | 4.8 million LinkedIn posts | Engagement | Audience's local time |
| Sprout Social | Mar 2026 | Nearly 2 billion engagements, 307,000 profiles (all networks), 27 Nov 2025 – 27 Feb 2026 | Peak engagement windows | Audience's local time |
| Hootsuite | Nov 2025 | Over 1 million posts (all networks), 118 countries | Engagement | Audience's local time |
All three give times in the audience's local time. Buffer: "if the recommended time is 4 p.m., you can treat that as 4 p.m. in the time zone you're targeting." Sprout Social: "All optimal posting times are listed in Local Time." Hootsuite: "the time of day was localized across 118 countries".

- Hootsuite: 6–8 a.m.
Where at least two studies overlap: 4–5 p.m.
Best time to post on LinkedIn on Wednesday
Buffer calls Wednesday the best day, with 4 p.m. its top slot of the week. Sprout Social's window runs until 4 p.m., so the two overlap at 3–4 p.m.
- Buffer: 4 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m.
- Sprout Social: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 9 a.m.
Where at least two studies overlap: 3–4 p.m.
Best time to post on LinkedIn on Thursday
Thursday is strong in all three studies, though the hours differ: Sprout Social says 11 a.m. and 1–5 p.m., Buffer says 5 p.m. or later, and Hootsuite says 2 p.m.
- Buffer: 5 p.m., 7 p.m., 9 p.m.
- Sprout Social: 11 a.m. and 1–5 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 2 p.m.
Where at least two studies overlap: 2–3 p.m.
Best time to post on LinkedIn on Friday

- Buffer: 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m.
- Sprout Social: 11 a.m. and 1–2 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 8 p.m.
No hour on this day is flagged by more than one study.
Best time to post on LinkedIn on Saturday
Sprout Social says there are no good times to post on LinkedIn on a Saturday. Buffer sees some activity at 9 a.m.
- Buffer: 9 a.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m.
- Sprout Social: no recommended time
- Hootsuite: 4–5 a.m.
No hour on this day is flagged by more than one study.
Best time to post on LinkedIn on Sunday
Sunday is quiet in every study. Buffer sees some late-evening activity, and Buffer and Hootsuite overlap at 6 a.m.
- Buffer: 10 p.m., 9 p.m., 6 a.m.
- Sprout Social: no recommended time
- Hootsuite: 6 a.m.
Where at least two studies overlap: 6–7 a.m.
Why the studies disagree on the hour
- Different samples. Buffer studied 4.8 million posts sent through its tool by Pages and personal profiles; Sprout Social counted engagements across its customers' profiles; Hootsuite analysed posts from businesses.
- Shifting habits. Buffer says its peak windows moved later in 2026: in 2025 peak engagement "was almost entirely confined to working hours", while in 2026 it runs from about 3 to 8 p.m.
- Different measures. Sprout Social reports peak engagement windows; Buffer and Hootsuite rank hours by engagement.
- Hootsuite's page isn't consistent. It gives two different overall answers (8–9 a.m. and 4–6 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). We use its day-by-day times, which are mostly mornings.
The common ground is clear even where the hours aren't: midweek, during the working day, and not at the weekend.
Company Pages vs personal profiles
The studies don't split their times by account type. Buffer says its windows apply "whether you're looking to grow a LinkedIn Page for a brand or your own personal brand with a LinkedIn profile". Sprout Social's data comes from business customers' profiles, so it leans towards company Pages and B2B audiences.
In practice:
- Company Pages and B2B content: start with Sprout Social's midday windows on Tuesday to Thursday, when buyers are at work.
- Personal profiles and creators: test Buffer's later slots (3–8 p.m.) as well, since its data includes individuals and shows engagement moving into the evening.
- Both: skip weekends for anything important.
Converting LinkedIn times for an audience in another country
LinkedIn audiences are often international. The studies use the audience's local time, so a consultant in Mumbai selling to UK firms should post at UK times converted to Mumbai time. Here's Buffer's top slot, Wednesday at 4 p.m., converted:
| Audience in ↓ / you post from → | New York | London | Mumbai | Manila | Sydney |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| New York | Wed 4 p.m. | Wed 9 p.m. | Thu 2:30 a.m. | Thu 5 a.m. | Thu 8 a.m. |
| Los Angeles | Wed 7 p.m. | Thu 12 a.m. | Thu 5:30 a.m. | Thu 8 a.m. | Thu 11 a.m. |
| London | Wed 11 a.m. | Wed 4 p.m. | Wed 9:30 p.m. | Thu 12 a.m. | Thu 3 a.m. |
| Mumbai | Wed 5:30 a.m. | Wed 10:30 a.m. | Wed 4 p.m. | Wed 6:30 p.m. | Wed 9:30 p.m. |
| Manila | Wed 3 a.m. | Wed 8 a.m. | Wed 1:30 p.m. | Wed 4 p.m. | Wed 7 p.m. |
| Sydney | Wed 12 a.m. | Wed 5 a.m. | Wed 10:30 a.m. | Wed 1 p.m. | Wed 4 p.m. |
Toronto shares New York's time, and Vancouver shares Los Angeles's. These conversions are for mid-November; the gaps shift by an hour for a few weeks each spring and autumn. For audiences split across continents, the best time to post finder shows where their windows overlap.
How to find your own best time on LinkedIn
LinkedIn doesn't show an hour-by-hour chart of when your followers are online, the way Instagram and TikTok do. So the way to find your own best time is to test and read your post analytics.
- Pick two or three windows from the studies above, for example Tuesday 11 a.m., Wednesday 4 p.m. and Thursday 2 p.m.
- Post similar content in each, keeping the format and length alike.
- Read the analytics. For a personal post, open the analytics under the post. For a Page, use the Page's content analytics, which report impressions, reactions, comments and reposts for each post.
- Compare by time slot, using engagement per impression rather than raw numbers.
A simple four-week test:
- Weeks 1–2: post at Sprout Social's midday windows (Tuesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
- Weeks 3–4: post at Buffer's later windows (Wednesday to Friday, 3–5 p.m.).
- Then compare comments and reposts per impression, and keep the winner.

Common questions
What is the best time to post on LinkedIn?
Midweek during the working day. Buffer's top slot is Wednesday at 4 p.m., Sprout Social's best window is Tuesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the three studies overlap at Tuesday 4–5 p.m., Wednesday 3–4 p.m. and Thursday 2–3 p.m., in your audience's local time.
What is the best day to post on LinkedIn?
Wednesday in Buffer's data, followed by Thursday and Friday. Sprout Social says Tuesday to Thursday, and Hootsuite names Tuesday and Wednesday.
Should I post on LinkedIn at the weekend?
Not for anything important. All three studies rank weekends lowest. Sprout Social says there are no optimal times to post on a Saturday.
Is the best time different for personal profiles?
The studies don't split by account type. Buffer's data includes personal profiles and shows engagement running later, to about 8 p.m., so personal profiles may do well with afternoon and early-evening slots. Test both.
What time zone are these times in?
Your audience's local time. If you're targeting UK professionals from India or the US, convert UK times to your own clock.
